The Inside Story Podcast with April Adams Pertuis

Sep 24, 2020

Welcome to the first episode of The Inside Story! Thank you so much for tuning in. I’m April Pertuis, and for most of my adult life, I’ve been captivated by the power of stories to connect people. My intention for this podcast is to simply bring insightful, inspiring stories that shine a light back on YOU, and spark something that prompts you to examine your own story and see how valuable it really is—especially when you decide to share it.

I’ll take you behind the curtain to reveal the success stories of entrepreneurs, thought leaders, change makers and others who’ve walked through fire and come out the other side. How did they get there? What were the hurdles? What are their biggest “aha” moments? Plus, we’ll look at the power of story (because your own journey has power to propel you forward in life too), and I’ll be sharing my own stories along the way.

In today’s episode, I talk about how this podcast came to be, as well as my goals and intention for The Inside Story, including:

  • How the concept is rooted in my own lifelong experiences with stories
  • What I learned as a child sneaking into my parents’ parties they threw for friends and colleagues
  • My observations about what stories are shared on social media, and what I think needs to change
  • What I learned over 25 years of interviewing people in my role as broadcaster
  • How storytelling plays a role in my Facebook group, LIGHTbeamers, and how that led to The Inside Story
  • How I knew I had to start this podcast
  • A weekend getaway in San Antonia and how that led to the name of the podcast
  • How I hope this podcast will help to excavate and shine a light on your own stories

In addition, I’ll be sharing my own stories here. It’s both exciting and scary, but something that I know must be done. Because sharing our stories can help to others—often in ways that we can’t imagine.

It means the world to me that you are here for this first episode.

And I do hope you’ll join me in the LIGHTbeamers Community, too
